Cheryl Bedan is licensed in both Maine and New Hampshire as a Mental Health Counselor and is a Nationally Certified Counselor.
At Sakash Health and Wellness, Cheryl creates a safe, judgment free space, where a trusting therapeutic relationship is developed to bring about effective change and enhance well-being. Her counseling approach will not only support you to understand and address psychological and emotional distress but it can also be a preventative and proactive practice toward mental health wellness. Cheryl’s approach is individualized and brings together concepts from different therapeutic modalities to increase self-awareness and healing including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral and somatic (body-centered) therapies. There are connections between the brain, mind, and body that encompass how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are linked to our physical health. Change and development are continuous throughout our lifespan and we can all, at any age, benefit from support to achieve, and maintain, mental health wellness.
In addition to counseling Cheryl is trained in CranioSacral Therapy (a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system) and Yoga Therapy {through assisted yoga postures and non-directive dialogue, client is guided to experience the connection of their physical and emotional selves). These therapeutic approaches can be used collaboratively with counseling to support the client to further explore thoughts and emotions, find balance, and calm the nervous system.
